The U-value is no magic!
Two ways lead to your element's U-value: calculate or measure.
What is the U-value?
The U-value (thermal transmittance) indicates how much heat is lost to the outside through a building element – such as an exterior wall, a roof or a window. It is expressed in watts per square metre and kelvin (W/(m²·K)).
The lower the U-value, the better the insulating effect and the less heating energy escapes through the element.
Why the U-value matters
In energy-efficient renovation and new construction, the U-value is a key figure: it affects heating demand, comfort and compliance with legal requirements (e.g. building energy legislation). Grants often also require certain U-values per building element.
PSCoat and the U-value
PSCoat works primarily through thermo-reflection – the coating reflects heat radiation instead of slowing it down via material thickness like classic insulation. How this affects the thermal behaviour and characteristic values of a given element depends on the substrate and layer build-up and is determined per project.
